Summary

After painting a 50% model and badly printing a 70%model, I was frustrated with the amount of inaccuracies in the model. I decided it needed improving, so I compared maps and satellite views and a nice 3D model on Sketchfab. I found and made 15+ enhancements in Blender. See the photos and/or the differences list.

I also sliced the model at 0.16 instead of 0.20, which made a nice difference, and printed at much slower speed to improve accuracy on some of the small details. The final print took 30 and a half hours, but was well worth it.

There was still one pile of rocks that I thought I fixed by the island entrance, but accidentally left a small hole in it so it printed wonky. I fixed it in the model, but cannot be sure until making another full-sized print (actually 70% is as big as my printer will fit). I need more filament for this big a print.

Note, I am selling hand painted 3D prints of Mont St Michel on my Etsy store (https://ABitMoreAdventure.etsy.com/listing/1714400077). Currently I have the original models painted, but as I sell out, I will be replacing them with these new versions. If you want to buy a new version, put it in the special requests field on the order and I'll make you one. I sell 25% and 50% so far, but will hopefully add the 70% size soon (I plan to keep this prototype for myself though).

Added Barbican to Abbey Entrance, added Fountain of St Aubert to North side, added courtyards: next to Cloister and next to Barracks, added Bridge over Grand Stair, added Tower next to that Bridge, added roofs to several buildings and towers, added a tiny moat and drawbridge at King's Gate. Fixed various bad geometries for printing.

Printed slow, 30.5 hours and got excellent detail at 70% size. Modifications showed up also at 25% size.
