Summary

This is my attempt at making an ultimate wooden railway model of Toad the Brakevan. Toad was modeled in 3D builder and Adobe Illustrator. The pieces to Toad were sorted by color, either being black or grey. Some materials and tools are needed to help make this model, and adult supervision is advised for children wanting to build this model. You can find the link to a Powerpoint presentation with the stickers to make Toad in the description of my account. I have also created an alternate set of stickers so you can make a scarp variant of Toad as well. Have fun, and remember, little engines can do big things!

Post-Printing

Not much work needs to be done to Toad's pieces post printing. A small amount of sanding may be needed to fix any printing errors with the pieces after printing. Also, hot water is recommended to warm up the plastic of Toad's chassis to attach the wheels to the spokes, as the plastic is very hard.

How I Designed This

The chassis and wheels are originally from a model of a toy train that you can load in Microsoft 3D Builder. The original couplings were removed, the chassis was made slightly taller, and the original body of the engine was removed to make the chassis one solid rectangle. Toad's body was modeled in Illustrator, as was the curve of the roof. Other details such as Oliver's brake handle and funnel were designed in 3D Builder using simple cylinders, spheres, and cones.
