Summary

Hello! This is a case for holding and carrying up to twelve 3.75 inch, 1:18 scale action figures.

It also features a holder for the recently released Pocketnaut from the Crafsman - see https://shop.crafnation.com/product/pocketnaut - the holder fits into a cell in the carrying case. The Pocketnaut holder has spaces on the sides so you can reach in and pull it out without having to tip the tray. And there are little spaces so you can remove each piece (face, body) without too much trouble - use a small finger or pencil or paperclip? The holder can also stand up on its own without the pieces falling out!

Added a holder for accessories such as blasters or light sabers that fits in the small cell. I may make holders for other things also, like maybe the Makerbot tiny figure or the Diener space erasers.

Note: For all you STAR WARS fans, Darth Vader / Chewbacca / IG-88 can now fit in the taller horizontal cell, whereas the smaller horizontal cell can fit astromechs such as R2-D2 or R5-D4 nicely.

There are also feet on the bottom so it can stand up ok.

I also added some texture sheets that you can glue to the sides for a cooler look, tried to include them directly in the design but could not figure out a good way to print them, trying to use supports just destroyed them... So far there is a double trapezoid geometric pattern one, and other that looks like an old tv where you can insert a photo or something you print out.

Really only the handle needs supports, if you put supports near the hinges, make sure it doesn't put supports inside the hinges themselves, very difficult to remove!

Note that you need to print TWO of the stl file, one for the top and one for the bottom. They are identical.

The size is pretty much as big as I could make it on my Prusa i3 mk3s printer which has a 250 mm x 210 mm print bed size. I would like to make a bigger one but I guess I need to buy a bigger printer first. This is is actually a nice size, though, if I was still a kid I would like it.

For the closing key, I printed it at a 45 degree angle with supports, I think it's less likely to break that way, pla prints seems to be weak parallel to the print layers...

Post-Printing

The hinges should mate up and you can slide a 1.75mm pla filament inside so that it can rotate and not fall apart!

To keep the carrier closed, you can insert a twisty-tie, or you can use the key-like cylinder thingy I just added. You could probably use a lock if you really wanted to.

There are hooks on the sides for stretching rubber bands to keep the figures from falling out when you close the carrier.

How I Designed This

I just used tinkercad, was going to try using FreeCAD but didn't get around to it. I'm still trying to get through enough tutorials to be productive...
