Summary

Back Story:
I've been trying to make our Gloomhaven/Frostahven/etc. play area more interesting and neat/orderly, so I altered a few designs, and made a few of my own, to give it a bit more ambience. I originally wanted to design a skeleton hand to hold the curse cards, but decided a skull would allow cards to be taken/replaced easier. When I saw this one, i thought it was perfect! If you're interested, I also made a holder for the bless cards, using a rose.

Design Notes:
I sleeve all of my active/shuffled cards, so this was designed with sleeved cards in mind. Sleeved, the cards fit perfectly, but you could scale it up a few percent if you wanted a looser fit, or scale it down if you wanted a better fit with un-sleeved cards.

Printing:
The original file is a scan, so the bottom is not flat and has a number of issues. This was easy to overcome by simply printing flat on the build plate and lowering the skull below the plate until it reached a relatively flat surface (I went with -1.5mm).

It would probably print fine without supports, but I still placed a few light supports on the larger overhangs and in the eye sockets (I included a supported file as well). If you print flat on the build plate and use supports, just make sure the base of the supports don't touch or sit too close to the skull, otherwise they will fuse together.

I hollowed the print with 3mm walls, placed a few drain holes on the bottom, and added two small holes on the side (one on each side, near the back), right at the point the print hollowed out (to prevent suction cups).

Misc Notes:
The painting is still a work in progress, but it already looks great with the rest of the set up. I printed two, one for monster curses and one for player curses.
